Diamond Results, Spa Catholic Wins Twice

While the baseball/softball season is still in it’s early stages the Saints of Saratoga Catholic couldn’t have hoped for a better start.  Both the softball and baseball squads are undefeated at 3-0, each adding wins yesterday on a busy Friday in the Wasaren.

Baseball

Saratoga Catholic 16  Stillwater 3

Winning Pitcher:  Dante Marin 5 IP  6Hits  2 Runs 10 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Saints – Terel Tillman 4-5, 3 RBI’s,     Nick Winslow 3-5, 2B,     Tyler Haraden 2-3, 2 2B’s      Dante Marin 3-5, 4 RBI’s        Warriors – Luke Shultz 3-3, 2 2B’s      Scott Travis 2B, RBI

In a game tied at 3-3 after four innings of play, the lethal Saints lineup scored 12 times over the next two frames to notch the victory.  Saratoga Catholic has outscored it’s opponents 44-7 in three league contests thus far.  

 

Greenwich 13  Hoosick Falls 2

Winning Pitcher:  Carson Mosher 5 IP  1 Hit  5 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Witches – Cole Burgess 3-4, 3 RBI’s     Christian O’Brien 2B, 3B, 2 RBI’s     Jesse Kuzmich 2-3, 2B        Panthers – Max Kipp 1B

Mosher limited the Falls to one hit while the Greenwich attack rolled with 14 hits and 13 runs in the five-inning “W”.

 

Tamarac 6  Mechanicville

Winning Pitcher:  Dalton Maxon 5 1/3 IP  2 Runs  8 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Bengals – Jake Scharnott 3-3, 2B, HR, 3 RBI’s       Max Gliosco 1-4, 2 RBI’s     Red Raiders – Nick Billert 1-3, RBI

The Bengals rode a strong pitching performance by Maxon, and big day at the plate by Scharnott to the win.

 

Softball

Saratoga Catholic 16  Stillwater 4

Winning Pitcher:  Molly O’Reilly

Hitting Stars:  Saints – Julia Murdock 4-5, 2B, 5 RBI’s     Molly O’Reilly 3-4, 2B, 3 RBI’s     Victoria Alvord 2-3, 2B, RBI

A nine-run first paved the way to the easy “W” that saw the Saints lace 15 hits in just five innings of play.

 

Hoosic Valley 21  Waterford 1

Winning Pitcher:  Shannon Brown 5 IP  3 Hits  6 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Valley – Renee Perry 4-5, 2 2B’s, 3B      Shannon Brown 2 1B’s       Savannah Champagne 2 1B’s          Fordians – Carson Smith 2 1B’s

The Indians scored in all five frames plating 11 in the fourth to claim the one-sided victory over the Fordians.

 

Tamarac 2  Mechanicville 0

Winning Pitcher:  Maggie Kelley 7 IP  1 Hit  9 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Bengals – Cassidy Galipeau 2-3, RBI     Gabby Castiglione 2-3       Red Raiders – M. Nadler 1-3

The Bengals earn the victory in the low scoring affair behind Kelley’s one-hit shutout.

 

Hoosick Falls 12  Greenwich 6

Winning Pitcher:  Abby Philpott 7 IP  8 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Panthers – Mackenzie Ellis 3B, 4 RBIs      Vincent 2B     Estes 2B      Witches – Lauren Maines 2 2B’s      Gabbie Wiss 2B

The Falls outscored the host Witches 7-1 over the final three frames to earn their first win of the season.
