Cambridge Splits in Canonica Classic


A pair of Wasaren clubs played in tournaments on Saturday with the Cambridge boys competing in the Canonica Classic Wood Bat Tournament, while the Greenwich girls took the field in the Ballston Spa Tourney.

Cambridge 5  Germantown 2

Winning Pitcher:  Nethanel Woodworth 4 IP  3K’s

Hitting Stars:  Indians – Nate Woodworth 2B, RBI     Kyle Spiezio 2 1B’s, RBI     Patrick Robertson 2 1B’s, RBI       Germantown – Dean Ruzich HR

In a game tied a 2-2 through four innings of play, Cambridge shutout Germantown over the final three frames while plating a run in the fifth and two in the sixth for the victory in the first round of the Classic.  


Maple Hill 13  Cambridge 0

Winning Pitcher:  Dan Hall

Hitting Stars:  Indians – Patrick Robertson 2 1B’s     Ben Epler 1B

Maple Hill scored seven runs in the sixth to break open a 1-0 contest and earn the “W” in the championship game of the Classic.  Patrick Robertson was named to the all-tournament team.


Schuylerville 7  Greenwich 2

Winning Pitcher:  Teagan Andrews  7 IP  1 Hit  12 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Black Horses – Molly Elder 3-4, 2 RBI’s     Chrissy Putman 2-4, RBI     Teagan Andrews 2-4, RBI     Emily Vallee 2-4, 2 RBI’s       Witches – Lauren Maines 1-2

Schuylerville broke a 2-2 tie with five runs in the top of the seventh paving the way to the victory over the Witches.


South Glens Falls 16  Greenwich 0

Winning Pitcher:  Brianna Harrington  5IP  4 Hits  2 K’s

Hitting Stars:  SGF – Celyna Shaw 3-3, 3 RBI’s     Emily Joss 4-4, 4 RBI’s     Maddie Capozucca 4-4, 4 RBI’s         Witches – Lauren Maines 1-2,     Courtney Fraher 1-2,     Mackenzie Moy 1-2,     Helen Smith 1-2

South Glens Falls scored in every inning, ripping 19 hits in the one-sided victory, running their record to 3-0 on the season.
