Greenwich Wins Weeden Tourament

In the first annual Charles Weeden Memorial Tournament the Lady Witches from Greenwich won a high-scoring affair in round one and followed that with a shutout victory in the championship game to earn the tournament title.

Greenwich 10  Hoosic Valley 9 (10)

Winning Pitcher:  Helen Smith

Leading Hitters:  Witches – Lauren Maines 2 1B’s, 3B, RBI     Courney Fraher 1B, 2B, 2 RBI’s     Helen Smith 2 1B’s, 2 RBI’s        Indians – Sarah Sheldon 2 1B’s 2 RBI’s       Kaitlyn Suschinski 1B, 2 RBI’s

The Witches push a run across in the bottom of the 10th for the win.

 

Hoosick Falls 4  Cambridge 2

Winning Pitcher:  Abby Philpott

Leading Hitters:  Panthers – Ellis 2B

The Panthers prevail in the first round of the Charles Weeden Memorial Tournament.

 

Greenwich 3  Hoosick Falls 0

Winning Pitcher:  Lilly McCaulliffe  One-hitter  11 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Witches – Courtney Fraher 1B, 3B, 2 RBI’s      Devin Drew 2 1B’s

McCaulliffe throws a gem, and Greenwich plates three runs in the sixth to claim the championship.

 

Tamarac 7  Elmira Notre Dame 1

Winning Pitcher:  Gia Bucciero

Leading Hitters:  Bengals – Gabby Castiglione 3-4, 2B     McKenna Ryan 2-4     Kylie Galipeau 2-2, 2B     Jess Hienrichs 2B

The Bengals used a strong effort from Bucciero, and 12 hits offensively to notch the non -league victory.

 

Tamarac 12  Seneca Falls 3

Winning Pitcher:  Jess Hienrichs

Leading Hitters:  Bengals – Gia Bucciero 3-4      McKenna Ryan 3-3     Alexis Dagastino 2-3

A 10 run fifth frame by Tamarac sealed the “W” as the Bengals improve to 3-1, 7-2 on the season.
