A full slate of diamond action played out on a beautiful Monday with the theme of the afternoon, besides the gorgeous weather, being one-sided affairs with all but one game decided by wide margins.

Baseball

Hoosick Falls 32  Berlin 0

Winning Pitcher:  Andrew Stevens

Leading Hitters:  Falls – Ryan Bloomer 2 1B’s, 2B, 3B, 8 RBI’s     Brandon Decker 2 1B’s 2B, 5 RBI’s     Zack Morine 3 1B’s, 3 RBI’s

The Panthers scored in every inning including 11 runs in the first and 13 more in the fifth, improving to 2-3 in league play with the win.  

 

Sap Catholic 11  Mechanicville 0

Winning Pitcher:  Dylan Custer  5IP  3Hits  4 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Saints – Terel Tillman 2-2, 2B, RBI     Nick Winslow 2-3, 2B, 3 RBI’s         Dante Marin 2-3, 2 RBI’s

Played under the lights at Veterans Memorial Park, Custer spins the five inning shutout and as always the Saints lineup produces more than enough offense, the constant in their 7-0 start to the season.

 

Tamarac 8  Cambridge 2

Winning Pitcher:  Jake Scharnott  7IP  4 Hits  14 K’s

Leading Hitters:   Tristan Nemjo 4-4, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI’s     Jack Mulligan 1-4, 3 RBI’s     Dalton Maxon 2-4, 3B, RBI        Indians – Patrick Robertson 2-4, 2 3B’s       Nathan Genevick 2B

Tamarac plated two in the first, and scored in each of the last four frames, more than enough for Sharnott as the Bengals with the “W” improve to 4-2 in league play.

 

Greenwich 7  Waterford 6

Winning Pitcher:  Alex Curtis 3 innings of scoreless relief

Leading Hitters:  Witches – Carson Mosher 2-4, 2 2B’s, 3 RBI’s     Charlie Gartner 2-3, RBI     Liam Niesz 1B, 2 RBI’s       Fordians – Connor Houle 3-run HR     Mike Talavera 2-3, 2 2B’s, RBI

Greenwich scores 5 runs in the seventh capped by a Niesz two-out, two run single to earn the come-from-behind victory and go to 7-0 on the year.

 

Softball

Hoosic Valley 11  Stillwater 0

Winning Pitcher:  Shannon Brown 6 K’s, 4 hit shutout

Leading Hitters:  Valley – Alex Rifenburg 1B, 2B, 3 RBI’s     Hollis Guillanelle 2B     Sam Finkle 2B

Brown throws the shutout as the Valley evens their league mark at 3-3.

 

Hoosick Falls 13  Berlin 0

Winning Pitcher:  Abby Philpott 3-hit shutout 11K’s

Leading Hitters:  Falls – Olivia Brownell 2B     Mackenzie Ellis 2-3, 2 RBI’s     Stephanie Merwin 3-4, 2 RBI’s

The Panthers move to 4-3 behind a dominant performance in the circle by Philpott.

 

Greenwich 30  Waterford 5

Winning Pitcher:  Haley Spiezio

Leading Hitters:  Witches – Carissa Wardell 3-5, 3 B, 4 RBI’s     Gabby Wiss 2-3, 2 2B’s, 5 RBI’s     Courtney Fraher 2-3, 2B, HR, 4 RBI’s        Fordians – Emily Kelley 2-3, 2B,  RBI     Breanna DeFrusco 2-3, 2B, RBI

The Witches pound 20 hits, and score 30 times in four innings of work, moving to 5-1 in the Wasaren with the win.
