Soccer Results; Raiders Win a Pair

Mechanicville soccer teams have enjoyed an outstanding fall season with just one league loss between the boys and girls squads.  On Monday both were in action and both came away with “W’s” highlighting soccer action for league teams on the first day of October.

Boys

Mechanicville 3  Colonie 1:  The Red Raiders found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime but responded with three scores after the break to earn the nonleague win over Colonie.

Nick Depaulo gave Colonie the 1-0 advantage finding the range just eight minutes into the match.

After intermission Chris Ciccerlli evened things when his shot deflected off a defender and split the posts.  Brandt St. Gelais gave the Raiders the 2-1 lead finishing a rebound off the keeper and Jeff Luce wrapped the scoring connecting on a direct kick for the 9-0, 10-1 Mechanicville squad.

 

Waterford 4  Catholic Central 0:  Hunter Guertin scored a hat trick as the Fordians posted the shutout victory over Catholic Central.

Tyler Galarneau added a goal and Bobby Valigorsky saved six shots for Waterford to earn the shutout.

 

Chatham 3  Hoosic Valley 2 OT:  Chatham scored the deciding goal in the second overtime period to squeeze past the Valley.

Isaac Carlo and Brandon Jesmain connected on first half goals for Hoosic Valley, as did Garner Boshart and Curtis Buchan for Chatham.

After a scoreless second half and first overtime Nathaniel Loomis found the back of the net in the second overtime session giving Chatham the victory.

 

Girls

Mechanicville 10  Saratoga Catholic 1:  It was all Mechanicville as eight Raiders found the range in the easy victory over the Saints.

Jada Brown and Hannah Garone led the way with two goals each, and Brynn Murphy added a goal and two assists highlighting the Raider attack.

Lauren Maher scored on a second half strike for Spa Catholic.
