Soccer Sectional Results

A big Saturday in Sectional soccer action saw Wasaren teams fare well led by Mechanicville who posted wins in both girls and boys matches.

Girls

Mechanicville 1  Catskill 0:  After a scoreless first half, Nevaeh D’Alioa, off a Jada Brown find, found the back of the net for the matches only goal lifting the Red Raiders to the win, and a Class B semifinal game on Tuesday against Holy Names in Lansingburgh.

 

Stillwater 9  Granville 0:  Teya Staie and Brooke Pickett both scored hat tricks, and Keelyn Peacock, Devon Wagner and Gianna Moraci added single goals as the top seeded Class C team in the state moves on to host Maple Hill in a quarterfinal match on Tuesday.

 

Cambridge 1  Greenwich 0:  Vanessa Evans scored the game’s only goal in the first half of play and the Indian defense and keeper Brecke Gifford made it stand as Cambridge posted their third straight shutout in moving to the quarterfinal round, where they’ll travel to Lake George on Tuesday to face the Warriors.

 

Lake George 3  Waterford 1:  Stephanie Dickinson-Frevota, Rebecca Kohls and Gabby Marchello all connected for goals to lead the Warriors past the Fordians in Class C play.

Annelise Rebel tallied after the break for the Waterford score.

 

Hoosic Valley 1  Middleburgh 0:  Zoe Neary found Samantha Lanoue who split the posts for the game’s only goal, and the Valley defense and keeper Sarah Sheldon posted the shutout for the Indians who advance to a quarterfinal with Mayfield, on Tuesday in Schaghticoke.

 

Hoosick Falls 2  Canajoharie 1:  Sky Haynes with two goals, and keeper Maddy Yueng with 11 saves led the Panthers to the first round “W”, and a quarterfinal date with Schoharie on Tuesday.

 

Voorheesville 3  Tamarac 0:  Emma Farrell, Jayden Kelley and Amanda Gillenwalters all connected with scoring strikes to lead the Blackbirds past the Bengals in a Class B quarterfinal.

 

Boys

Mechanicville 1  Greenville 0:  With three minutes remaining in regulation Jeff Luce finished off a Marcus Tobin find, giving the Red Raiders the victory in Class B action.

Raider keeper Zach White turned back 15 shots and combined with his defense to notch the shutout for Mechanicville who advances to the semifinal round.

    Devon Wagner also had a single goal in the Stillwater vs. Granville game on Saturday evening.
