The Section II soccer tournament continued it’s march to the finals on Wednesday and five Wasaren schools were in action trying to extend their playoff runs.
Stillwater 4 Maple Hill 0: The Warriors took control early, scoring four times before the break in turning back the Hilltoppers in a Class C quarterfinal.
Brooke Pickett scored yet another hat trick, Paige Brinsko added a single goal, and Kiersten Conroy saved two shots to earn the save as Stillwater moves onto a C semifinal in Lansingburgh on Saturday where they’ll face the Indians of Hoosic Valley.
Hoosic Valley 3 Mayfield 1: Sami Dickinson connected for a pair of goals, Leigh Henkel added a goal and an assist, and keeper Sarah Sheldon saved six shots leading the Valley to the win and setting up a Saturday showdown with Stillwater.
Lake George 1 Cambridge 1 LG 3 C 1 PK’s: Lake George prevailed 3-1 in the penalty kick round and moves on to the Class C semifinals.
Cambridge’s Lily Phillips staked the Indians to a 1-0 lead with a scoring strike at the 61:37 mark.
The Warriors knotted things when Rachel Jaeger found the range with three minutes left in regulation sending the teams into a pair of scoreless overtime sessions and the deciding PK round.
Cambridge finishes an excellent fall campaign with a record of 11-4-1.
Holy Names 4 Mechanicville 0: Avan Panto scored a hat trick and Grace Field tallied as well, leading Holy Names past the Red Raiders of Mechanicville in a Class B semifinal.
The Raiders complete a fine season with a 13-4 season mark.
Schoharie 6 Hoosick Falls 1: Schoharie scored three goals in both halves to post the comfortable victory over the Falls in Class C quarterfinal action.
Megan Krohn led the Schoharie attack with a hat trick.
Sky Haynes connected on a first half goal for the Panthers who complete their season at 8-10.
