Friday Night Crossover Results

A crossover Friday in the Wasaren offered few surprises at the end of the night as games played out as we thought they would.  A nice win for the Valley boys over Tamarac highlighted the action and here’s a closer look at all the contests from a February Friday.

Girls

Greenwich 83  Berlin 22

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Molly Brophy 25       Emma Brophy 11       Tess Merrill 10       Faith Hewitt 10                  Mountaineers – Kaley Culbertson 4        McKenna Jansen 4      Lockett 4

Key Stat:  The Witches steamrolled Berlin with 33 points in the first period, put 10 players in the scoring column and cruised to the easy victory over the Mountaineers.  

 

Hoosick Falls 48  Spa Catholic 27

Leading Scorers:  Falls – Logan Thayne 24            Saints – Katie Cronin 9

Key Stat:  The Panthers led 16-1 at the quarter and 34-3 at halftime in coasting to the “W” over Spa Catholic.

Hoosic Valley / Mechanicville :  Postponed

 

Boys

Hoosic Valley 71  Tamarac 59

Leading Scorers:  Valley – Isaac Carlo 20       Matt Rowe 16       Derek Eddy 15      Zach Ryan 11         Bengals – Jacob DeFreest 22       Anthony Ciampolillo 10        Frank Zotto 10

Key Stat:  With the Valley leading 35-32 at the break, the Indians used a 20-12 third period to gain some breathing room and closed things out over the final frame to notch the victory.  The Valley placed four players in doubles and converted on 27 of 36 from the stripe, in extending their winning streak to four, heading into sectional play.

 

Greenwich 81  Berlin 42

Leading Scorers:  Witches – John Walsh 17           Sam Howard 16        Alex Curtis 14       Carson Mosher 10            Mountaineers – Brandon Rifenburg 17

Key Stat:  We said yesterday the Witches would win going away and the only question would be how many threes they’d knock down.  Greenwich drilled 12 triples in nearly doubling up the Mountaineers.

 

Stillwater 73  Spa Catholic 52

Leading Scorers:  Warriors – Brian McNeil 23        Grant Baker 12          Mason Seymour 11 Saints – Ryan McCarroll 20

Key Stat:  The Warriors scored 20 or more in three quarters and put this one away with a 21-9 advantage in the third.

 

Mechanicville 73  Cambridge 33

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Devin Garland 22          Luciano D’Ambro 17          Indians – Nick Murphy 8

Key Stat:  The Raiders coupled plenty of firepower with limiting Cambridge to a combined five points over the first and final periods in coasting to the road win over the Indians .
