The Red Raiders of Mechanicville hosted Schuylerville on Friday in the boys soccer, season-opener for both schools that ended with the Black Horses prevailing 1-0 in a close match throughout.

The two squads battled through a scoreless first half  with the deciding goal coming at the 9:45 mark of the second on an Ian Winchell tally off a Zach Saddlemore find, giving Schuylerville all the offense they would need to notch the road victory.

Black Horse keeper Brady Eugair saved 12 shots and combined with the Schuylerville defense to post the shutout.

Keeper Zach White turned back ten shots for the Red Raiders.
