Last season the Bengals of Tamarac played to a 5-4 overall record while going 1-4 in the very competitive Class C Central. This fall Tamarac will look to improve on their conference mark, a conference with the departure of Holy Trinity that will have five teams this year in Mechanicville, Stillwater, Fonda and Canajoharie/Ft. Plain along with Tamarac.
Four important two-way players return for the Bengals this year in RJ Doyal LT/NT, Jonah Rescott RB/DE, Sean Pusatere LG/DE, and Peyton Nealon RB/LB. Doyal, Rescott and Pusatere are part of 14 seniors that will dress for head coach Eric Roadcap this season.
Another senior player has been the surprise of the preseason in Tamarac as Tristan Nemjo QB/K/P, will strap on the pads this year for the first time. Nemjo, heading to Hobart College next year to play baseball, “Has shown us how much of a D1 athlete he is with the game of football”, said Roadcap.
The head coach looks for his team to play a physical brand of football both in their defensive 4-4 alignment and their spread offensive attack.
When asked what his team needs to do for a successful year Roadcap responded, ” If we stay healthy and execute the team scheme week to week, we’ll be fine.”
The Bengal’s mentor pointed towards Cambridge/Salem and Stillwater as top contenders in the C classification which seems to be the consensus of most.
But don’t sleep on these Bengals. Experience goes a long ways in high school football and the senior class at Tamarac will make up two 2/3rds of the roster. Add to that veteran squad the newcomer Nemjo who brings an athleticism that translates in any sport, and this group from Clum’s Corners might just be a factor in the Class C landscape this fall.
