The Waterford girls soccer team opened the 2019 season in dominant fashion with a 9-0 shutout of Corinth on Thursday.
Sophia Belonga and Cassidy McClement with a pair of goals each led the Fordians attack.
Izzy Vecchio, Mackenzie Koniszewski, Addy Galuski, Ellis Trubridge and Madison Roy all added scoring strikes for Waterford who held a 6-0 advantage at the break.
Mechanicville 5 Waterford 0: In action at Fairways of Halfmoon on Thursday, Mechanicville’s Anthony Fiacco found the course to his liking, firing the low round of 40 in leading the Red Raiders to the sweep of Waterford.
Zach Hartz, Joey Manzer, Andrew Sgambati and Jack Salvadore all joined Fiacco in the winner’s circle for Mechanicville who with the win improve to 2-3 on the year.
Greenwich 4 Tamarac 1: The Witches Jake Owens fired a 35 to earn medalist honors as Greenwich notched the victory at the Battenkill Country Club.
Bradley Brophy and Patrick McFee posted wins in flights four and five, while the two teams splits points in flights two and three.
Greenwich’s Grant Peck and Tamarac’s Zack Krill played to a tie as did the Witches Tyler Ziehm and the Bengals Michael Jacques in the second flight.
Greenwich moves to 3-2 with the win while Tamarac’s season mark goes 3-3.
