Wasaren vs. Western Athletic Conference

It was WAC vs. Wasaren Day at Afrim’s Sports Park on Saturday with boys soccer teams from the two conferences facing off.

Greenwich 3  St. Johnsville 2:  Al Rymph with two goals and Madigan Carner with a single tally led the Witches past St. Johnsville.

St. Johnsville avoided the shutout with a Mason Snell goal late in the second half.

With the win Greenwich improves to 7-1-1 on the year.

 

Mechanicville 3  Scotia 0:  A Wyqui Agunda goal gave Mechanicville a 1-0 lead at the break and T.J. Bisaillon and Zach Rapaccioulo found the range after intermission in the Red Raiders “W” over Scotia.

Mechanicville keeper Zach White, with five saves, and the Raider defense combined for the shutout as Mechanicville improves to 5-2 on the season with the victory.

 

Stillwater 9  Mayfield 1:  Already in control holding a 3-0 lead at the half, the Warriors rang the bell six times after the break in cruising to the win over Mayfield.

Grant Baker with four goals, Issac Cutler with three, and Harry Rubenstein and Jeff Hotaling with single strikes led the offensive parade for the Warriors who move to 5-2 on the year with the victory.

 

Berlin-New Lebanon 3  Middleburgh 2:  Cody Hunt, Dylan Lambert and Nikfor Popov all found the back of the net for the Mountaineers in the narrow “W” over Middleburgh.

Berlin-New Lebanon sees their season mark move to 5-2 with the win.

 

Waterford 8  Bishop Gibbons 0:  Nate Powell’s hat trick showed the way for Waterford in the one-sided victory over Gibbons.

Joshua Catanzarita and Tyler Galarneau added two goals each and Jaycen Janusz with a single tally rounded out the explosive Waterford attack as the Fordians improve their season mark to 5-0-1.

 

Schoharie 6  Spa Catholic 2:  Schoharie used a Derek Dietz hat trick to get past the Saints of Saratoga Catholic.

Fletcher Griffin, Quin Barton and Noah Fagnani all added scoring strikes as well for Schoharie.

Matt Apy and Dante Marin connected with goals for the Saints who slip to 2-3-1 with the loss.

 

Mekeel Christian 4  Hoosick Falls 2:  In a game tied 1-1 at the break, Mekeel’s Lens Lima scored three second half goals to lead MC past the Panthers.

Lima also found the range in the first half as did the Falls Connor Jones.

Evan Webster added a second half tally to round out the scoring for Hoosick Falls.

 

Hoosic Valley 1  Galway 1:  The two squads went to the break tied at 1-1, and defense ruled the remainder of the match.

Galway’s Anthony Powers and the Valley’s Derek Howard connected on first half scoring strikes, before the keepers and the defensive units shut the door.

Galway net-minder Henry Flint saved three shots while Hoosic Valley’s Matt Rowe turned back eight shots for the Indians.

 

Girls Soccer:

Waterford 7  Hadley Luzerne 0:  Seven different players found the range in the Fordians shutout “W” over Hadley Luzerne.

Natalie Rich, Sophia Belonga, Mackenzie Koniszewski, Cassidy McClement, Isabella Cecchio, Baylee Noto, and Ellis Trubridge all rang the bell for Waterford who led 4-0 at the break.

Sierra Atwood saved two shots between the posts for the Fordians to earn the shutout.

 

Salem 4  Spa Catholic 2:  Salem jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and hung on for the non-league “W” over the Saints.

Mikayah Rushinski with two goals and Amber Terry and Matty Barrett with single strikes led the Generals attack.

Lauren Maher tallied twice to lead Spa Catholic.
