Stillwater took a slim 1-0 lead into halftime, but came out of the break with a pair of early scoring strikes to take control, on their way to the Class C semifinal victory over Lake George in Mechanicville on Monday night.
Eight minutes into the contest the Warriors Brooke Pickett found the back of the net with her 200th career goal giving Stillwater the 1-0 advantage which they took into the break.
Just 3:53 into the second half Devon Wagner found the range, finishing a Keelyn Peacock cross for the 2-0 lead, and five minutes later Pickett tallied for the second time and the 3-0 cushion, ending any thoughts of a Lake George upset on this day.
Peacock added a pair goals late, and the Stillwater “D” and Warrior keeper Kiersten Conroy (12 saves), combined for the shutout, just the second time this season that Lake George was kept off the board.
The win, for the defending state champions, sends Stillwater (18-0-2) to the Class C title game on Wednesday in Mechanicville where they’ll face Voorheesville in a 6:30 start.
