Boys Soccer, Raiders, Fordians Advance to Wasaren Finals

Mechanicville and Waterford earned semifinal wins on Friday and will face off Saturday afternoon in Mechanicville in the Wasaren League Boys Soccer Championship.

Mechanicville 14 Cambridge 0: The Raiders connected for goals eight times before the break and cruised to the one-sided decision over Cambridge in their semifinal tilt.

Tyler Tesoriero and Justin Manion led the scoring parade with three goals each, Andrew Kraszewski and Jordan Nolin both found the range twice and Colin McNutt, Wyqie Aguda, TJ Bisallion, and Ryan Grimmick all added single scoring strikes as the Raiders extended their undefeated mark to 14-0.

Mechanicville keepers Glenn Prarie and Dylan Raucci combined with the Red Raider “D” for the shutout, Mechanicville’s tenth in fourteen outings this year

Waterford 2 Greenwich 1: Joshua Cantanzarita with a first half tally and Ty Plummley’s second half strike was just enough for the Fordians to slip past Greenwich in their matchup on Friday.

Waterford keeper Alex Roy saved 10 shots in the match, beaten just once by Josh Poovey who found the back of the net in the second half for the Witches.

The Fordians improve to 9-3-2 with the win and will look to upset the undefeated Red Raiders of Mechanicville on Saturday in the title match with a 12:30 kickoff scheduled.
