Soccer Sectionals; Witches, Mountaineers Advance

Greenwich 7 CCHS 0: Holding a 2-0 lead at halftime, the Witches scored five times after the break to post the dominant “W” over the Crusaders in Greenwich on Tuesday.

Five Witches scored in the win led by Madigan Carner’s hat trick, with Josh Poovery, Declan Kelleher, Owen Keech and Amani Raphael all adding single tallies.

Greenwich keeper Owen Keech saved six shots to earn the shutout for the Witches who advance to a Thursday night match with the Fordians of Waterford.

Berlin/New Lebanon 2 Hoosick Falls 1: The Mountaineers used a pair of Chris Shorter goals to get past the Falls in New Lebanon on Tuesday.

Alex Salvescold connected for the Hoosick Falls goal.

B/NL moves on in the tournament, and will travel on Thursday to face Chatham in a 3 p.m. start.

Berne Knox 4 Cambridge 0: Stavros Lefkaditisz with a pair of goals, and Zack Schwenk and Ben Zyniecki with single scoring strikes, led BK past Cambridge in a Class C play-in match on Tuesday.

Lucas Losito played well in the nets for BK, to earn the shutout.
