Saturday Morning Roundup; Fordians Roll

Waterford 9 Berne-Knox 1: The Fordians did their work early scoring four times before the break, in posting the shutout over Berne-Knox in a girls Class C opening round match.

Addison Galuski tallied twice, while Cassidy McClement and Imani Bloomfield added single strikes for the undefeated Fordians, who are the top ranked Class C team in the state.

Waterford keeper Maddy Atwood saved four shots for the Fordians, who advance to the quarterfinals with the “W”.

Stillwater 2 Galway 0: Elliot Patenaude connected for scores in each half, and the Stillwater defense did the rest in the Warriors Class C, opening round victory over Galway.

Patenaude score in the eighth minute of the match, and split the posts again in the 61st minute, while Warrior keeper Mia Corraro saved four shots and combined with the Stillwater “D” for the clean sheet.

Stillwater moves on to a quarterfinal match on Tuesday with Schoharie.

Hoosick Falls 2 Rensselaer 0: The Panther defense pitched a shutout, and Sydney Kasulinous and Rylie Niles connected on scoring strikes. to lead the Falls to the opening round win in Class C.

Hoosick Falls keeper Olivia Estes denied two shots, and with the Panther defense posted the shutout.

The Falls moves on to a quarterfinal match on Tuesday with Maple Hill.

Maple Hill 3 Cambridge 1: Maple Hill ran out to a 2-0 halftime lead, and held on for the win over Cambridge.

Alayna Fletcher, Rachael Frazier and Halee Spar all tallied for the Tigers.

Samantha Crandall connected with a second half strike for Cambridge.

Football

Tamarac/Hoosick Falls 42 Corinth 0: The Wildcats scored 28 first-period points, and cruised from their to the road “W” over Corinth.

HF/T quarterback Jake Sparks threw for three touchdowns in the first quarter, finding Jack Cavanaugh, Dylan Baker and Dillion Grogan with scoring strikes.

Baker also added a 29-yard punt return for points in the opening period.

In the second frame Anthony Paladino scored on a 1-yard TD run, while Richie Stifter scooped up a fumble and returned it 46 yards for six, to cap the scoring on the night.

The Wildcat defense dominated, holding Corinth to nine total yards in the contest.

HF/T kicker Abby Buckley was a perfect 6-6 on PAT’s.

With the win the Wildcats move to 6-1 on the year.

Fonda 47 Mechanicville 0: Fonda scored 34 points over the middle two periods to take control, on their way to the shutout victory over the visitors from Mechanicville.

Giovanni DiCaprio led Fonda’s attack, running for 127 yards and a pair of scores, including a 91-yard touchdown romp.

With the loss the Raiders slip to 1-5 on the season.

Stillwater 47 Warrensburg/North Warren 26: CJ McNeil and Caleb Dyer scored three touchdowns each, in leading the Warriors past W/NW Friday night in Stillwater.

McNeil ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns, while Dyer added 143 rushing yards and a touchdown, and caught a pair of TD passes as well.

Stillwater moves to 4-1 on the year with the victory.
