Thursday Results: Cambridge/Salem Wins in Double OT

Cambridge/Salem 3 Mechanicville 2 2OT

In a game with multiple lead changes and extra sessions, the ending came in the second overtime when CS’s Rowan Ossant found Alex Olsen who went far post for the game-winner.

A Graham Murphy tally in the first half staked Mechanicville to a 1-0 lead that the Raiders carried into halftime.

After the break C/S scored back-to-back with Olsen and Landon Sullivan finding the range to give the visitors a 2-1 advantage before Murphy knotted things at 2-2 with his second strike of the match off a direct kick just outside the box.

The two squads played a scoreless first overtime and much of the second before Olsen ended the match with the deciding goal.

C/S keeper Tyler Beadling saved six shots in the win while Mechanicville keeper Ethan Staunton saved two shots in defeat.

Tamarac 2 Hoosick Falls 1

Trailing 1-0 late in the first half. Tamarac evened things on a Gabe Gearwar score off a Jake Smith find, and after the break Smith took a quality look from Ethan Thompson and connected on the difference-maker from 25 yards out lifting the Bengals to the “W”.

Cambridge/Salem 1 Taconic Hills 0

The lone goal of the match came midway thru the first half when Natalie Wood found the back of the net off a Mary Langevin find for the 1-0 advantage and the C/S defense made it stand for the victory in the Berlin/New Lebanon Soccer Tournament on Thursday.

Cambridge/Salem keepers Charlotte Hodgkinson and Olivia Keller combined for 12 saves and the shutout.

Taconic Hills keeper Amber White saved five shots in defeat.
