After a scoreless first half the Valley connected on the only score of the match when Mia MacMillan took a Sophia Akin feed and split the posts from the right corner of the 18 for the game-winner.

The Witches built a 2-0 halftime lead and closed things out in the second half to post the home win over Stillwater in the Wasaren home-opener for both squads.

Greenwich opened the scoring when Owen Shannon finished a Wyatt Skiff find for the 1-0 lead.

With nine minutes remaining in the half Garrett Heath found a streaking Skiff who found the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage.

Seven minutes into the second half Connor Gibson got Stillwater on the board with an arching shot from the corner of the box trimming the deficit to 2-1.

With eight minutes left in the match the Witches put this one in the win column when after a series of passes Noah Speanburg from the back post found Shannon for the put away.

Greenwich keeper Mason Foster saved four shots in the win while Stillwater keeper Trystan O’Brien saved 15 shots in defeat.

Leading 6-0 at the half Averill Park scored 29 second-half points to roll past T/HF on Friday night.

Averill Park quarterback Mason Sansone threw for 139 yards and a touchdown and AP running back Joey Biette ran for 147 yards and a pair of scores to lead the AP attack.

Averill Park held a 390-183 advantage in total yards in the game.
