Two Roads Traveled To A Regional Football Weekend
This weekend football state quarterfinals will be played with a pair of Wasaren schools putting on the pads. The Cambridge Indians in Class D and the Witches of Greenwich in Class C are one of eight football teams left standing in their respective classifications. On Friday night the Witches travel to Massena to take on the Blue Devils of Ogdensburg Free Academy, while Cambridge meets the Sentinels of Ticonderoga on Saturday in Schuylerville. Continue reading

Raiders, Warriors Fall in Soccer Semifinals

Lake George 2 Mechanicville 0: A pair of second half goals, one each from Gabrielle Marchello and Lacey Cormie fueled the Warrior victory, sending Lake George to the Class C sectional final on Wednesday versus Schoharie.
Rachel Shambo saved 12 shots in posting the shutout for Lake George, and Raider keeper Lauren Claeys turned back 14 shots for Mechanicville who finish a fine season at 13-3-2.
Schoharie 1 Stillwater 0: After a scoreless first half of play, Carolyn Wetzel found the back of the net with the only score in the contest sending Schoharie to the championship match with Lake George on Wednesday.
Abby Wetzel earned the shutout victory stopping 10 shots for Schoharie, while Danika Svendsen saved 12 for Stillwater who finish their impressive year with a 15-2-2 mark.

Greenwich 36 Hoosic Valley 22: A fast start and a pair of fourth down plays in the final period paved the way for the Greenwich victory over the Indians of Hoosic Valley in a Class C sectional final in Schaghticoke. Continue reading
