The Indians of Cambridge and Hoosic Valley picked up gridiron wins Saturday afternoon, Cambridge rebounding from their first loss in over a season and a half, while the Valley while extended their winning streak to three.
Cambridge 58 Cohoes 0: Nine different players put points on the board for Cambridge as the Indians rolled over the visitors from Cohoes.
Zack Rowland found Soyer Matteson for a 37-yard touchdown strike, Keaden Ogilvie returned a punt 50 yards for a score, and Tommy English ran one in from 41 yards for the Indians opening trio of scores in a game that they led 34-0 at the quarter, and 48-0 at halftime.
Senior kicker Helen Mooney added seven extra points and a 31 -yard field goal on the afternoon for the 5-1 Cambridge squad.
Hoosic Valley 43 Fort Edward 16: Fort Edward held a 16-7 lead in the first period and led 16-13 at the half, before the Indians stormed back after the break to post the victory over the Forts.
Dan Giordano ran for 96 yards and a score, Will Scofield 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Branden Haughney and Joyce-Ann Peckham added rushing scores leading the Valley’s ground game that took control over the final two quarters of play.
With the victory Hoosic Valley improves to 3-3 on the year and will travel to Warrensburg next weekend to face the Burgers in a big Class D-2 matchup.
