Tuesday Night Sectional Play

Hoosick Falls 64   Mayfield 36

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Jake Sparks 18     Connor Jones 12     Andrew Sparks 11        Mayfield – Jack Peroff 8

Key Stat:  A 20-7 third period for the Falls put Mayfield away.

Take Away:  The Panthers won every quarter, led 28-17 at halftime, and used a big, third frame to earn the “W” in the opening round in Class CC.  Next up for Hoosick Falls is a 3:30 Saturday run, at Saratoga High School where they’ll face #2 Chatham.

 

Greenwich 76    Rensselaer 51

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Jesse Kuzmich 27     Joe Skiff 14     Deontae Bennett 12     Jacob Ziehm 11     Rams – Baker 10     Vogel 10

Key Stat:  The Witches outscored Rensselaer 39-23 over the middle two periods.

Take Away:  Greenwich put four players in doubles and won every period in pulling away for the victory in Class CC.  Next up for Greenwich is a matchup with #3 Lake George on Saturday at Saratoga High in a 1:30 tip.

 

Saratoga Catholic 50   Granville 35

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Robbie Bolen 24     Mark Hmura 15         Golden Horde – Caleb Nelson 13

Key Stat:  The Saints held a 9-1 advantage in made threes.

Take Away:  Spa Catholic rode the long ball and a big defensive effort in notching the first-round win in CC action.  The Saints move on to a quarterfinal game with #1 Stillwater at Saratoga in a 5 p.m. start.   

 

Waterford 60   Schoharie 50

Leading Scorers:  Fordians – Howard Phelan 23     Gavin Bodah 19       Schoharie – J. Gell 15     D. Bernhardt 11

Key Stat:  Waterford converted on 16 of 28 from the free throw line, while Schoharie was just 7 of 14 from the stripe.

Take Away:  The Fordians won each of the first three periods, building a 49-37 lead, and closed things out over the final eight minutes in the opening round of Class C.  Next up for Waterford in a matchup with #2 Fort Plain on Saturday.

 

Whitehall 63   Cambridge 53

Leading Scorers:  Railroaders – Cash Burgee 24     Latrell Evans 17     Brandon Bakerian 12      Cambridge – Jackson Thomas 13     Logan Richetter 12      Dillion Hughes 11

Key Stat:  Whitehall used a 19-10 second quarter to gain some breathing room.

Take Away:  The Railroaders led 32-23 at the break and hung on for the win in Class C play.  Whitehall advances to a second round run with #3 Berne Knox on Saturday in Shenendehowa at 1:30.

 

Greenville 66   Mechanicville 62

Leading Scorers:  Greenville – Troy Smith 17     Nick West 16     Jack Matta 15     Cody Thompson 12     Red Raiders – Colin Richardson 22     Tyler Eiseman 13     Jo Devito 12

Key Stat:  Greenville led 25-15 after the first eight minutes.

Take Away:  Greenville’s first period advantage was trimmed to 49-46 entering the fourth quarter where Greenville was able to close out the victory over the Raiders in the opening round of Class B.  

 

Saratoga Catholic 60   Argyle 41

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Ashley Upson 20     Katie Cronin 12      Scots – Lillianna Kingsley 15     Kylee Humiston 14

Key Stat:  The Saints ran out to a 32-12 halftime lead.

Take Away: Spa Catholic used a big first half and cruised to the quarterfinal win in Class D, advancing to the semi’s where they’ll face #2 North Warren in a 6 p.m. run at Ballston Spa on Monday.
