Mechanicville 5  Cambridge 1:  In a game Mechanicville led 1-0 at the break, the Raiders scored four goals over the first fifteen minutes of the second half to post the win going away.

Five different Raiders tallied in the match with Zach Rapaccioulo, Andrew Kraszewski, Jake LaFountain, Tyler Tesoriero, and Wyqui Agunda all finding the range for Mechanicville.

Jordan Brown scored the Cambridge goal late in the second half.

 

Tamarac 4  Stillwater 0:  Max Ali, Ethan Brown, Riley Hayner and Rocco DiCarlo all found the back of the net in the Bengals comfortable win over the Warriors.

Tamarac keeper Tyler Nemjo saved six shots for the shutout as the Bengals improve to 3-1, 6-1 on the year with the win.

Tamarac 9  Spa Catholic 0: Abby Buckley scored five goals to lead the Bengals to the one-sided decision over the Saints.

Bre Evertsen, Jenna Hunt, Taylor Smith and Vanessa Baldwin all added scores for Tamarac, and Bengal keepers Jenna Hunt and Ella Toomajian combined for the shutout.

 

Mechanicville 9  Berlin 1:  Mechanicville led 5-1 at the break in cruising to the easy “W” over the Mountaineers.

Hannah Garone and Ryleigh Hopeck with two goals each led the Raider assault.  Teammates Jada Brown, Nevaeh D’Aloia, Marissa Krosky, Brynn Murphy and Courtney Toher all added single scoring strikes for the 3-3 Raiders.

Wasaren vs. Western Athletic Conference

It was WAC vs. Wasaren Day at Afrim’s Sports Park on Saturday with boys soccer teams from the two conferences facing off.

Greenwich 3  St. Johnsville 2:  Al Rymph with two goals and Madigan Carner with a single tally led the Witches past St. Johnsville.

St. Johnsville avoided the shutout with a Mason Snell goal late in the second half.

With the win Greenwich improves to 7-1-1 on the year.

 

Mechanicville 3  Scotia 0:  A Wyqui Agunda goal gave Mechanicville a 1-0 lead at the break and T.J. Bisaillon and Zach Rapaccioulo found the range after intermission in the Red Raiders “W” over Scotia.

Mechanicville keeper Zach White, with five saves, and the Raider defense combined for the shutout as Mechanicville improves to 5-2 on the season with the victory. Continue reading →

Friday Night Football

Greenwich 48  Hoosick Falls 13:  Greenwich built a 20-7 led by halftime and pulled away in the second half for the comfortable win over Hoosick Falls.

Greenwich held outgained the Falls 420 -200 in total yards on the night, in winning for the second time in three outings.

Chris Albrecht rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown, Jesse Kuzmich ran for two scores and threw for another and Luke Pemrick added a pair of rushing score to led the Witches.

Max Kipp led the Falls attack, running for 109 yards and a touchdown as the Panthers with the loss slip to 1-2 on the season.

 

Stillwater 48  Canajoharie/Ft. Plain 14:  The Warriors bolted to a 21-0 advantage after the first period and cruised to their third victory of the year in Stillwater Friday night.

Warrior running back Mason Seymour ran for 160 yards and four touchdowns, and quarterback James Galarneau rushed for 134 yards with two TD’s and threw for 80 yards and a score to lead the lethal Stillwater attack.

 

Fonda 18  Mechanicville 7:  Fonda used a pair of big plays in the third period to post the come-from-behind victory over the visiting Red Raiders.

Mechanicville jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first on a Luke Shirmacker 12-yard touchdown run.

In the second, Braves quarterback John Mancini  found Garrett Neff with an 18-yard scoring strike, and with a failed point after, the Raiders held the 7-6 advantage heading into halftime.

On the first play of the third quarter the Brave’s Jackson Atty returned the kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown and a 13-7 Fonda lead.

Later in the period, with Mechanicville driving, Mancini scooped up a Red Raider fumble and ran it back 85 yards for a score and an 18-7 cushion for Fonda on what would be the last points in the contest.

With the win Fonda improves to 3-0 on the season, while Mechanicville slips to 1-2 with the loss.

Boys Soccer:  Greenwich 10  Hoosic Valley 1:  The Witches scored five times before and after the break in cruising to the home victory over the Valley.

Charlie Gartner connected three times while Connor Smith, Liam Niesz, Jeremy Zanella, Tom Haberland, Al Rymph, Tommy Abate and Ryan Hawrysz all added single goals for Greenwich.

Hoosic Valley avoided the shutout when James Robert tallied in the second half.

Greenwich moves to 2-0-1, 6-1-1 with the win, Hoosic Valley slips to 1-2, 2-5 with the loss.

 

Waterford 2  Stillwater 1:  The Fordians eased past Stillwater behind a pair of goals from Nate Powell.

Powell scored in each half for Waterford who moves to 2-0-1, 4-2-1 on the year.

Stillwater 9  Spa Catholic 2:  The scoring prowess of the Stillwater girls soccer team is well known, and it was on full display in Stillwater on Wednesday.

The Warriors scored four times in the opening eight minutes, adding five more before halftime with seven different players ringing the bell.

Brooke Pickett and Teya Staie led the assault with Pickett scoring three goals and Staie connecting for two.  Paige Brinko, Trinity Cutler, Khali Lux and Kelly Moran all added singles strikes for the Stillwater squad.

Lauren Maher provided the Saints offense with a tally in each half for Spa Catholic.

 

Greenwich 6  Waterford 0:  Greenwich broke out to a 4-0 halftime lead and coasted to the win over the visiting Fordians. Continue reading →

Boys Soccer

Mechanicville 2  Tamarac 1:  In a tight game throughout the Red Raiders Tyler Tesoriero converted on a penalty kick late in the second half for the game-winner.

Mechanicville scored first in the match when Andrew Krasewski found Tesoriero who finished for the 1-0 advantage, a lead the Raiders took to halftime.

After the break, Tamarac’s Dylan Bricetti drove home a penalty kick with 22:00 remaining to tie things, setting up Tesorierio’s difference-maker.

Zach White saved five shots for Mechanicville, while Tamarac’s keeper Tyler Nemjo turned back 17 shots for the Bengals.

Monday Results; Warriors Top Red Raiders

Girls Soccer

Stillwater 5  Mechanicville 1:  In a 1-1 game at the break, Stillwater scored four unanswered in the second half to secure the victory over Mechanicville.

The Red Raiders got on the board first when Bryn Murphy connected for the 1-0 Mechanicville lead.

Brooke Pickett’s tally tied things before intermission, after which Stillwater dominated the match.

Pickett added two more scoring strikes, and Teya Staie also found the back of the net twice for the 1-0, 5-0-1 Warriors.

Mechanicville, with the loss slips to 0-1, 1-3 on the season.

 

Cambridge 1  Greenwich 0:   A second half goal by Cambridge’s Vanesa Evans, proved the difference in the Indians in over Greenwich in Cambridge on Monday.

Evans took a feed from Sydney Benson and chipped the ball over the Greenwich keeper for the game winner and the Indians moved to 1-0, 1-2  in the early season.

Greenwich goes to 0-1, 2-2-1 with the defeat.

 

Golf

Mechanicville 5  Waterford 0:  In match played at Mechanicville Golf Course on Monday, Zach Hartz with a round of 42 led the way in the Red Raiders sweep of Waterford.

Anthony Fiacco, Joey Manzer, Andrew Sgambati, and Jack Salvadore all earned points for the Red Raider squad who improve to 4-5 on the year.

 

Tamarac 4  Stillwater 1:  Michael Jacques carded the low round of 44, leading the Bengals past the Warriors in a match played at Saratoga Lake Golf Club.

Zach Krill, Colby Phelps and Nate Krill all notched wins for Tamarac, while Aaron Lyons picked up the Stillwater point in flight five.

Tamarac with the win goes to 4-5, while Waterford at 0-9 continues to search for their first win of the year.

 

Panthers Notch Win Over Cairo-Durham

The Hoosick Falls Panthers evened their season mark with a convincing road win over Cairo-Durham on Saturday afternoon.

Panther QB Max Kipp ran for 100 yards and two scores, and threw for 100 yards as well to lead the Falls attack.

Running back Liam McGarvin added a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Panthers, who broke on top and led 21-0 in the second period, cruising to the victory in the second weekend of the football season.

Next up for the Falls is a key Class C North matchup on Friday night, when the Panthers welcome in the 1-1 Witches from Greenwich.

Cambridge/Salem Top War Eagles

In a game that was closer than the final score would indicate, the Cambridge/Salem Indians started fast, finished strong and showed their depth in turning back Lake George/Hadley Luzerne in Salem on Saturday afternoon.

Cambridge/Salem took the opening kickoff and while many fans were still choosing their seats, the Indians got on the board.  Junior quarterback Jacob Ruggles found Soyer Matteson running free down the middle, hit him in stride, and Matteson high-stepped it into the end zone for a 58 yard scoring strike.

Four minutes later it was senior running back Kaedin Ogilvie scoring the first of his five touchdowns on the afternoon, this one of the 10 yard variety and the Indians led 13-0 just four minutes in.

But after spotting C/S the first 13 points, the War Eagles showed they could play with the Indians and over the next 20 minutes of action outscored their hosts. Continue reading →
