Boys Soccer Sectionals, Warriors, Raiders, Indians Advance

Class C quarterfinals were played on Thursday in the Class C boys soccer sectionals and three Wasaren teams earned “W’s”, advancing to the semifinal round.

Mechanicville 3   Bishop Gibbons 2:  Jeff Luce scored a hat trick for the Red Raiders, two coming after intermission, and Mechanicville posted the come from behind victory over Gibbons.

Luce connected on his first goal in the first half of play giving Mechanicville a 1-0 lead at the break.

Michael Gosh and Will Lawson found the range after halftime to give Gibbons the 2-1 lead, but Luce tied things, finishing on a Reggie McCann find, and won it later in the half rifling home the unassisted game winner.

#8 Mechanicville advances to play at #1 Maple Hill on Saturday.

 

Stillwater 2  Schoharie 0:  The Warriors got first half goals from Brody Cepiel and Cooper Monost and made them stand, in posting the win over Schoharie.

#3 Stillwater will host #6 Galway on Saturday at 5 p.m.

 

Cambridge 3  Berlin 2:  Trailing 2-1 at the half the Indians scored a pair of second half goals one each from Patrick Robertson and Ian Montomery to notch the come from behind “W” over Berlin.

#7 Cambridge advances to play at #2 Mayfield on Saturday.

 

Galway 2  Waterford 0:  Galway’s Adam Mancini scored just one minute in, and teammate Jake Restivo added another later in the half to lead Galway to the win over the Fordians.

Keeper Devin Pierre saved 17 shots for Waterford who end their season at 9-8.

 

Warriors, Raiders Share the Crown

Mechanicville 1   Hoosick Falls 1  OT: First half goals from the Panthers Darian Morgan and the Red Raiders Madison Harrington sent the teams to the break deadlocked.  Over the second half and two overtime periods neither squad was able to finish a scoring run, and the resulting tie left the door open for Stillwater to share the Wasaren title with Mechanicville (11-1-2). Girls Soccer, Bengals, Warriors Tie, Raiders Win Big

The race for the Wasaren title has been a two team affair most of the season between Stillwater and Mechanicville with Hoosick Falls and Tamarac on the fringe.  After Thursday’s action it looks like the second meeting between the Warriors and Red Raiders next Tuesday in Mechanicville will decide things.
