Mechanicville 6 Ichabod Crane 0: The Red Raiders scored three goals before the break to take control early in their shutout victory over Ichabod Crane.

Cambridge 63 Helderberg Valley 3: Cambridge scored six touchdowns in the first 12 minutes of play in rolling over Helderberg Valley.
Brenden Holcomb was on the receiving end of three touchdown passes from Zack Rowland covering 52, 37 and 12 yards, and Jonas Butz and Colton Dean added rushing scores for Cambridge, all coming in the first period. Max Hofer returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown to cap the first quarter assault as the Indians with yet another dominant victory improve to 6-1 on the season. Continue reading

Greenwich’s Reed Boduch advanced to the second round of play after firing an 80 on Tuesday in the opening round of the Section II State Golf Qualifier at Orchard Creek Golf Club.
The Greenwich junior tied for 12th place out of the 20 golfers that advanced after Tuesday’s round.
The top 11 golfers after Thursday’s second round will secure a spot on the Section II team that will compete in the State Boys Golf Championship in June at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Ithaca.
The Mechanicville girls soccer team took the short ride north Tuesday afternoon to Schuylerville where they faced the Black Horse in a nonleague get together. Three hours later they returned to Mechanicville with yet another “W”, this one a 2-1 decision over their hosts. Continue reading

Greenwich 42 Whitehall 3: After a 28-yard field goal from Whitehall’s Nick Kennedy trimmed the Greenwich lead to 7-3 early in the second period, Witches QB Cole Burgess took over.
Burgess scored on an 85-yard kickoff return, and runs of 80 and 4 yards before the break giving Greenwich control and a 28-3 halftime lead, on their way to the easy victory over the Railroaders. Continue reading
Going into the biggest regular season game of the year Stillwater head coach Ian Godfrey decided a change was needed at the quarterback position and handed the keys to sophomore James Galarneau. While probably too young to hold a driver’s license, Galarneau navigated four quarters of football like a seasoned vet, leading the Warriors to an impressive 48-13 victory over Mechanicville in the annual Indian Bowl game before a packed house in Stillwater.
