The Stillwater girls soccer team needed extra sessions to decide things on Saturday in their Class C state semifinal match in Homer. Tied 2-2 with Elmira-Notre Dame entering the first overtime period the Warriors found the back of the net with a pair of goals in the first overtime, on their way to a 4-2 “W” and a spot in the title game today at 12:30 where they’ll face Allegany Limestone. Stillwater Captures Class C Regional
The Stillwater girls are making wins in the post season look easy. The Warriors have played five games in the second season and in those contests they’ve outscored opponents 25-2.
Saturday in Plattsburgh Stillwater faced Northern Adirondack in a Class C regional final and continued their dominance, posting a 7-1 victory sending the Warriors to the state semifinals. Continue reading
Cambridge Class D Champion
A much anticipated matchup for the Class D crown turned into a one-sided affair as Cambridge jumped out early, and cruised past Greenwich 40-7 to earn the Section II championship for the 16th time since 1992.
After these two squads met in the regular season and played a back and forth contest with the Witches prevailing 43-38, most felt Saturday’s game would be much of the same. Didn’t happen. Continue reading

Holy Trinity quarterback Joe Tortello connected on four, first half touchdowns, and running back Dion Sexton rushed for 191 yards and a score to lead the Pride to a 34-12 victory over Stillwater and claim the Section II Class C football crown in Lansingburgh Friday night. Continue reading
