In a nice early season girls basketball matchup the Red Raiders defensive pressure proved to be the difference turning Hoosic Valley over throughout, paving the way for the 54-40 victory Wednesday night in Mechanicville.
With a good crowd on hand the two squads treated the fans to a fast paced first period. Raider guard Sammy Pasinella got things started, drilling a three from the top for half of her six points in the quarter. Continue reading

The all-state girls soccer team as named by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports was released on Sunday with eight players from the Wasaren earning recognition.
In Class C Stillwater’s Brooke Pickett and Keelyn Peacock were selected to the first team while teammate Faith Sheehan earned third team status. Continue reading

Several Wasaren athletes and a pair of coaches were recognized over the weekend with the announcement of the Section II girls soccer all-star team.

Greenwich took control early, jumping out to a 20-4 lead at the quarter break and expanding their advantage to 38-13 at the half on their way to the easy “W” over Canajoharie.
Molly Brophy dropped 29 points to go with 11 boards to lead the Witches in the non-league run.
Emma Brophy scored 10 points for Greenwich and Gabby Wiss had a big game on the glass hauling in 16 rebounds for 2-0 Witches squad.

Stillwater 52 Galway 29: The Warriors bested Galway in every quarter cruising to the easy non-league “W”.
Brooke Pickett led Stillwater with 21 points and eight rebounds on a night where the Warriors doubled up Galway 24-12 by halftime and never looked back. Continue reading
