Hoosic Valley Falls in Regionals

34_hoosicvalley

On a day dominated by pitching Ticonderoga pushed across the lone run of the contest in the third frame and hung on to defeat Hoosic Valley 1-0 in a Class C regional baseball semifinal at Husky Field in Gloversville.

Winning pitcher Dalton Granger led off the third with a double and came around to score later in the inning on the only Hoosic Valley error in the game.

Granger scattered five hits and didn’t allow a base runner past second in picking up the complete game victory.

Jon Colligan was outstanding from the hill for the Valley allowing just three hits on the day.

Hoosic Valley finishes another exceptional spring season with a 20-5 mark, and their fourth straight Section II title.

The Wasaren league has long been considered one of the premier small school conferences in New York state.  Independent of the season, the league schedule is a gauntlet preparing teams well for post season success.  Section II titles more times than not are decided with one, if not two league squads in the championship tilt.  This spring will be no exception. Wasaren Fares Well in Sectional Play

baseball

The Wasaren sent multiple baseball and softball teams into sectional games on Thursday and as is typically the case, they represented well.  A trio of league baseball and softball squads advanced with “W”s” and the league teams that went down in defeat both lost to a fellow Wasaren school.
