Last night it was a coin flip as to which game I’d go to see, Stillwater/Hoosick Falls boys, or Tamarac/Hoosic Valley girls.  It turns out either would have been the right call.  Both games had big implications in the league title chase, and both contests were overtime decisions, with the Valley putting away the Bengals 55-46 in OT to stay just one game behind front running Hoosick Falls in the race for the Wasaren crown. Panthers Edge Stillwater in OT

67_hoosickfalls2Fittingly Friday night’s game between the visiting Panthers of Hoosick Falls, and their hosts, the Warriors of Stillwater, needed an extra session to determine it’s outcome.  The two squads needed every second of regulation and a four minute overtime, and when the final horn sounded Hoosick Falls came away with the well-earned 59-57 victory, handing the Warriors their first league loss of the season. Girls Basketball; Panthers, Valley, Warriors Notch Wins

Just three games were played in the league on Wednesday night as Mechanicville was not in session due to the water issues in Troy that has affected the school.

The first place Panthers of Hoosick Falls had a battle with Cambridge for three periods before posting the victory, while Hoosic Valley and Stillwater enjoyed comfortable “W’s”. Continue reading

Wednesday Night Previews and Your Picks

Girls squads for all eight league schools take to the court tonight, four of whom have a legitimate shot at the league title.  The lead quartet, separated by just two games, see’s  Hoosick Falls setting the pace at 8-1, Hoosic Valley and Tamarac just a game back at 7-2, and Cambridge at 6-3, still in the hunt as well for the Wasaren crown.

Boys Basketball; Warriors Win, Falls and Raiders Keep Pace

The boys race for the Wasaren crown has thinned to three squads and the trio all posted easy wins Tuesday night.  Stillwater stayed perfect in league play at 10-0 win a victory over Granville, while Hoosick Falls and Mechanicville secured “W’s” running their marks to 8-2 with four league games remaining. Fighting Saints get well-rounded win over Great Bay CC Jan. 16

The Fighting Saints earned a win over Great Bay CC on Jan. 16 with a final score of 81-66. CSJ played a great team game, sharing the ball and working together to ensure the 15 point victory. Lady Saints take down the Great Bay Herons Jan. 16

The College of St. Joseph women’s basketball team delivered a knockout punch to the Great Bay Herons on Jan. 16, earning a victory with a final score of 112-33. This was the Lady Saints 10th straight win, pushing them to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in the YSCC. It was a dominating performance by the Lady Saints from start to finish, with great efforts from every member of the team. Continue reading
