Just last week Hoosic Valley and Greenwich met on the diamonds for the first time in 2016, and both the Valley softball and baseball teams came away with 2-1 victories over previously unbeaten Greenwich squads. Tomorrow the schools meet again, this time in Greenwich with in all likelihood the Wasaren titles on the line.

After splitting a doubleheader on Thursday Greenwich and Cambridge softball squads posted wins on Friday as did the Panthers of Hoosick Falls.

In high school and college my attendance was predominantly as a player, which transitioned to becoming a coach of two sports for 25 years, mixed in with following my three favorite athletes of all time, my two daughters and son. Mechanicville traveled to Granville Wednesday for rainy contests on the softball and baseball diamonds. The Red Raiders had an easy times of things on the softball field, but in baseball the Golden Horde came away with a 7-6 decision in an extra inning affair. Continue reading
In a much anticipated softball contest Tuesday between front running Greenwich and the second place Indians of Hoosic Valley, all in attendance saw the two teams battle through seven innings and then some. A pair of extra frames were needed to decide this one, and that decision came in the bottom of the ninth when Indians lead-off batter Bridgett Ryan beat out an infield single plating Danielle Stannard with the winning run, giving the Valley the 2-1 “W”.
